EDUTICON is a biennial internal conference on English language education and related fields of study held by Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Jambi (English UNJA). It is English UNJA's flagship event held since 2015. EDUTICON gathers experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts in the related fields from Indonesia and overseas. The event consists of plenary speeches from world-renown figures in English language education and related fields, parallel presentations, as well as hands-on workshop for ELT practitioners (teachers).

Brief History of EDUTICON

EDUTICON was first started in 2015 as a joint-initiative between ibu Dr. Rachmawati, M.Pd, the then chair of Master's program of English Language Education and ibu Indri Anastasia, S.S., M.A, the then chair of Bachelor's program of English language education. They then gathered a small committee membered by lecturers from both programs.

The name EDUTICON was suggested by one of the committee members, ibu Hidayati, S.Pd, M.Pd and was agreed on by all members. Initially, EDUTICON was an abbreviation of English Education International Conference. However, the name EDUTICON is later used as a brand name of the event.

Since the first EDUTICON, English UNJA has conducted consistently every other year and has succeeded to faced different kinds of challenges including Covid-19 lockdown period. Different modes of events have been used, including physical event, fully-online event, to hybrid conferences. Since then, EDUTICON has grown into a regular, flagship event of Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris (Bachelor Program).

In the first two events, EDUTICON has been promoted only as "EDUTICON 2015" and "EDUTICON 2017" respectively. However, as our confidence has grown higher, we believe that English UNJA will be able to conduct EDUTICON regularly, we started to use the serial number such as "The Third EDUTICON 2019" etc. to show to potential participants that EDUTICON has been successfully held many times consistently.
