Dr. Mohamed Amin Embi

Professor of Technology-Enhanced Language Learning, Faculty of Education, University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia

Dr. Mohamed Amin Embi is a professor of technology-enhanced language learning at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Presently, he is the Director, Centre for Teaching Excellence and Learning Technologies, UKM. He is a leading a consultant, expert and master trainer on e-Learning in Asia.Under the Malaysian Higher Education Leadership Academy’s Training of Master Trainers Programme, he has conducted more than 100 specialized training on e-Learning, interactive lecture, e-content development, Web 2.0 and OER at the national and international level. He is also a strong proponent of Open Educational Resources and an active contributor of Web 2.0 resources. His recent publication entitled ‘Web 2.0 Tools in Education Series’ has recorded more than 1 million ‘reads’ in Scribd.com. A Web 2.0 mobile application that he has developed known as JiT2U (Just-in-time Training 2U) has also attracted educators from more than 108 countries worldwide. He was the Chairman of the Council of the Malaysian Public HEIs e-Learning Coordinators for two terms (2010-2013), the President of the Mobile Learning Association of Malaysia since 2011 and Chairman of the Critical Agenda Projects (CAPs), e-Learning for the Ministry of Education. He is recipient of the ISESCO Prize for Science & Technology in 2010 (for e-Learning Technology), the National Academic Award 2006 (Teaching Innovation), the Malay Outstanding Award 2008 (Education), the Malaysia Achievement Award 2012 (Outstanding Achievements in Education Category) and the National Higher Education e-Learning Personality and Mover 2014.

Prof. Fuad Abdul Hamied

Professor of Language Education, Indonesia University of Education (UPI) Bandung, Indonesia; Former TEFLIN President

Fuad Abdul Hamied is professor of language education at Indonesia University of Education at Bandung, Indonesia. He obtained his M.A. degree in TEFL (1980) from Southern Illinois University, USA and his PhD in Education (1982) from the same university. Former President of the Association of Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Indonesia (TEFLIN), he is a former editorial board member and current advisor of the Journal of Asia TEFL, current reviewer MELTA Journal, Malaysia, he is currently IJAL.

His latest publication includes "English in Multicultural and Multilingual Indonesian Education", a book chapter published in 2012 by Springer; and another book chapter "Codeswitching in Universities in Vietnam and Indonesia", a book chapter published in 2014 by Multilingual Matters; "Research Methods: A Guide for First-time Researchers", a book published in 2014 by UPI Press;

Dr. Hywel Coleman

Dr. Hywel Coleman

Honorary Senior Research Fellow, School of Education, University of Leeds, UK

Hywel is Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the School of Education, University of Leeds. He is interested in language policy and practice, in education and in other domains. He has undertaken policy-related research in this field in Indonesia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Gabon, Morocco and eight countries in Francophone West Africa.

He was educated at the Universities of Oxford, Leicester and Lancaster and he holds the Final Diploma in Indonesian (a translating qualification) from the Institute of Linguists, London.

His edited and authored books include "Society and the Language Classroom" (Cambridge), "Working with Language" (Mouton de Gruyter), "Dreams and Realities: Developing Countries and the English Language" (British Council) and "The English Language in Francophone West Africa" (British Council).

Hywel is one of the Trustees of the Language & Development Conference Series. He has lived in Indonesia for more than 26 years.
